Songs That Get Me By

"Tie Her Down" By Senses Fail. Enjoy.

FYI

Hey readers, sorry for the lack of entries. I just had a busy week and couldn't find time to write. The poem appearing right before this post is a brand new poem to make up for the wait. I will be posting the beer list soon as well as another song I think people will like.

Consumed

Darkness surrounds me
like Black ink in water.
I'm sick with this disease
this disease called "love".

Spreading...
Infecting...

Killing parts of me.
I crave time.
Time to heal
to search for a cure.
I cannot let this envelop my being.

I will not stand for it.

A Simple Haiku

Illuminated,
the light hits the forest floor
revealing beauty.

Beers I Recommend...

1. A local favorite straight from Lambertville, New Jersey is Riverhorse Brewing Company. Whether it's the beer of choice at that Halloween party or the brew you sip around the fire on a nice, crisp fall night; Riverhorse Pumpkin Ale is a perfect addition. Delivering a magical mix of pumpkin and spices this is sure to please this autumn. Probably one of the best Pumpkin Ales I have tasted. I urge you all to do the same.

2. In keeping with the seasonal brews the next on my list comes from Magic Hat Brewery. Hex is their fall seasonal; an ale featuring slight hint of caramel and toffee. The beer finishes smooth with a smokey flavor concluding it. All the seasonal beers I have tasted from Magic Hat never proved to be disappointing.
3. The last beer that makes the cut is by a small-time brewery way out in California. The Lagunitas Brewing Company has a wide variety of Ales to choose from. However, the one that I have in mind is a summery, light, smooth ale that is found in stores all year round. A Little Sumpin' Sumpin' Ale is a wheat beer that goes down smooth. It is delicate and crisp and reminds me of a perfect warm weather beer. Although, you make drink it all year round depending on your preference. You may like it just that much.

Deftones Front Man Side Project

Chino Moreno from The Deftones previously had a side project called Team Sleep. Now he formed a band called (+++) Crosses. If you like Deftones and/or Team Sleep, you'll dig this.

Two Reads I Highly Recommend

The first piece of literature comes in the form of a graphic novel that many of you may have heard of as it was made into a popular show on AMC last year. The Walking Dead is a survival horror story that pits humans clinging onto the little life they have around them against the ever-hungry world of the undead, zombies. The series is heart-felt and suspenseful. After reading a few of the book collections you come to care about the characters and wonder about their future in the quickly dying world. Check out the books before season 2 of the show adaptation comes out this Sunday, October 16th.

The Dark Tower book series comes from the twisted genius of none other than Stephen King. However, this writing does not fall under the horror category, more so a post-apocalyptic "spaghetti western". This is King's brain-child; his teenage fantasy experimental epic. It follows a gunslinger named Roland and his journey to a distant dark tower and pursuit of the mysterious Man in Black. I'll let that tease you enough to read it for yourself. The book series expands over 22 years of some of King's best writing within 7 books and a short story. There are also graphic novels printed from this and a movie(s)/television series in future talks. Fans of Stephen King's should definitely check this out.

Poetry For A Rainy Evening

This poem paints such a vivid picture in my head. I hope you can see my vision as well.

Rain

Drip. Drop. Drip. Drop.
Slip into solace,
pure comfort,
silence

Crackle!

Pop!

The Red-hot embers shoot and spark in the fireplace, catching my eye.
Shadows are cast on the wall in my study,
the subtle waving of the flickering flames seem to animate them.
A figure dances for me upon the books resting on the shelf,
occupying my mind deeper into relaxation.

Snap!

A branch has given up hope and fallen to its death.

Thump!

It now lies upon the soil that once, slowly, bore it.
I turn to see the result of the suicide and notice the beauty the night reveals.
The vast colors flood my eyes, causing them to sink into paralysis.
Blacks, Blues, and Greens, all shadowed in darkness,
yet light, beams from the moon through the clouds and speckles the land below.
Then, I realize, it is still raining outside of my window.

Drip. Drop. Drip. Drop.
Slip into solace,
pure comfort,
silence

Close Your Eyes & Listen

The Weeknd...not WeekEnd. A R&B singer from Canada. His sound takes some time getting used to but it's dope.

FYI

Just a preview of what's to come. I should be posting craft beer lists soon. I may do 3 or 4 per post just to keep the length down. Maybe once a week. Keep your eyes and pallets ready!

More Poetry

Ok, this is an old poem I wrote but it's by far my favorite. I started it just by writing out a run-on sentence and then reading it over and over and broke it down where I wanted space and emphasis. It was originally called "The Vengeance of love" but I later changed it to "insert name here" because I thought it was a little more fitting. Hope you enjoy it!

(insert name here)

When you broke up with me,
you were breaking

DEEP

into my skin
with a

hot,
dull,
dirty,
knife.

Cauterizing my heart
f o r e v e r.

Both,

feverishly burning
 and
unmercilessly tormenting it,

while
tenderly and gently healing it…

Prevailing,
it will
continue to
pump blood,
go on,

and make me stronger

for the years that it has with me.

I thank you.
I hate you.
I miss you.
I will love you forever.

That is

-The Vengeance of Love-

A Dabble Of Photography

So I don't own a fancy camera or 100's of dollars in photography equipment but I snap a few snazzy pictures here and there when I can. Here they are.

A barn on the edge of my grandparents property
Taken with an old cell phone
I love this, it's like beauty in a mess of things
My friend and I both agree it looks like a secret hatch
I have no idea what this is, possibly an old food storage
Love the lighting in this picture

StartADancePartyFriday

Ok so technically today is Friday. Work is over. You are off for the weekend. So make a cocktail, dress to impress, and dance to this before you reach your destination. Enjoy.

A Long Break...

I would like to say it feels good to be back. Isn't it strange that a routine that one gets used to such as working out or dieting goes well at first and then looses momentum until the daily activity dies out? The same thing happens with writing until one stumbles on to new inspiration. I have new inspiration and I'm ready to start this up again. No promises with X number of posts per week. Just an honest motivation to write.
